I have been chosen to be the Women’s Bank writer with my ’Littana’-book (’Flatty – the story of a forbidden child’) in Women’s Bank’s ’Read Profession to a Woman’ -campaign in 2023.
I am so very happy and proud to have the honor to work together with Women’s Bank!

’Flatty’ fits together with the theme
Also, this Littana -’Flatty – the story of a forbidden child’ suits so well the purposes of Women’s Bank campaign!
A true story of a child born as a forbidden kid in a poor Chinese village, a girl who grew up to be an entrepreneur after an immigrant childhood, after tenuous schooling and child labor in an immigrant family in a strange country, Finland.
I believe this story sheds light on the social and societal conditions many women confront in developing countries. So we can understand the importance of supporting women’s education and women’s professions in those countries.
Besides, I think it’s an exciting and touching lifestory, anyway.
School taught importance of solidarity
I have learned to appreciate supporting developing countries already at young age in Finnish school.
When I was ten years old, they gave us ’Red Feathers’ to be sold for the benefit of Finnish Red Cross. I went from door to door in rain or shine to sell 50 Red Feathers, which I had set as my goal.
When I was eleven, our music teacher took us to sing and perform a Finnish Christmas Show (’Tiernapojat’ – ’Star boys’) for Unicef to raise funds for making wells in Africa ( we sang ten wells, each cost 300 marks that time in 1971). There were other campaigns, as well.
From these fund-raising campaigns in Finnish school I learned this belongs to any responsible person’s life. So I have continued doing so as an adult, too, my monthly donations going mainly for the girls of developing countries, for their literacy and education campaigns.
Now it’s time to participate Women’s Bank, as well, and I am so very proud to belong!
